It’s spring break – which means I don’t have class for this entire week. Yet, I can’t go to sleep. It feels like I need to finish a paper of some sorts for tomorrow. So here I am, wide awake at 4:00 AM. On the contrary, Hyeon is sleeping like a baby on the couch. Lucky him for being able to go to sleep at his will! You can tell I’m slightly jealous of his… ability. I never understood those people who can fall asleep at their pleasure. Do you also fall asleep easily? Am I the weirdo or is Hyeon?

Of course, the situation doesn’t get better with this sweet baby sitting on my desk:

Yes, it’s the 27-inch iMac. Unfortunately, this picture doesn’t do any justice (due to my lacking photography skills), but it looks so much better in person. Seriously, I shed a tear of joy every time I walk into the study.

I got my first Mac when I was a freshman in college. I was used to Windows, but I am a sucker for anything white or pink. At the time, the iBooks were slowly taking over the world, dressed in gorgeous white. So of course, I gave in and purchased it rather impulsively. 5 months later, I absolutely hated it and couldn’t even stand looking at it. So I ended up switching back to Windows. I swore that I would never get another Mac in my life, but here I am, typing away at my new favorite computer. Life is funny sometimes.

First Time for Everything

I’ve been a vegetarian for nearly all my life. At first, I wasn’t really aware of the welfare and treatment of animals, the health complications, or anything else that is related to choosing a vegetarian life; I didn’t really think I was making a difference in the world. I simply chose to become a vegetarian because I didn’t enjoy the taste of meat.

I first found out about veganism when I was a senior in high school. After reading about the fundamentals behind it, I decided to make the transition and become a vegan. For five years, I had difficulty making a complete conversion, having numerous slips with dairy.

But once and for all, I am declaring today that I am in it for the long run this time. Starting today, March 1st, 2010, I will follow vegan diet and make the full immersion. I’m posting this on my blog in hopes that doing so will make me more strong-willed. I am aware that it is going to be a difficult (as it was every time), but I’m willing to take the challenge because I care about well-being of my own health, the animals, and the planet. Wow, sorry, that was such a cliché, but you know what I mean.

On a lighter note, I finally hired a cleaning lady and today was the first day she came. The results? I am punching myself for not doing this earlier! She left the house spotless: I think the last time I saw my house this clean was when I moved in! It took her 7 long hours to finish. Um, did I just make myself sound like I lived in a pile of trash? Don’t get me wrong – my condo gets extremely dusty and I have two dogs that shed all year long. Hyeon and I could never clean house this clean; I really appreciated that she was so thorough and paid so much attention to the smallest detail. I can’t wait until the next time she comes!

So I’m starting the month on a good note. Let’s hope it stays this way :)

Love-Hate Relationship

I confess: I have a love-hate relationship with my blog.

I love blogging because it gives me a sense of belonging and home in the World Wide Web, literally. Not only that, it gives me a chance to share my love for fashion, photography, diet, food/cooking, and dogs. (Yes, I am aware of the fact that they are quite a funny combination). These are only some of the many great things about having a blog.

The downside? Finding the time to actually blog. As a senior who is writing her Honors thesis (on top of a full course load), I am lucky to have an hour to do any non-school related activities. This also makes me live a relatively boring and uneventful life. So even if I find the time to blog, I rarely have anything to talk about.

So why am I back? Obviously, it’s because the pros outweigh the cons. So this time, I will hopefully keep up with this. Wish me luck!
